HPC status and certification
MSF Supply is an independent central purchasing unit created under the aegis of MSF Belgium.
MSF Supply was set up in 1989 as a cooperative. MSF Belgium’s goal at the time was to set up a supply structure adapted to the needs of the emergency operations implemented by MSF Belgium. We do not aim to make a profit through what we do. Since 1 January 2021, following the reform of Belgian corporate and associations law, MSF Supply has become a non-profit organisation (Belgian ASBL).
MSF Supply is also recognised as an HPC
We were granted Humanitarian Procurement Centre (HPC) status over 20 years ago. This status is recognised and certified by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) from the European commission.
As such, we work exclusively with emergency or development humanitarian organisations, non-profit organisations or bodies with a social cause. These organisations must prove they are independent of any political or military body and agree not to sell on the products they purchase. Humanitarian Procurement Centres are non-profit organisations. They specialise in purchasing the products and services needed to implement humanitarian aid. HPCs provide their clients with technical expertise when placing an order. They can also set aside stock for them.
